My name is Dongmao Li. I’m from
China. I came to Macomb last year in the summer. My American friends like to
call me Red, my English name, my professors also would like to call me that
because my Chinese name is too difficult to pronounce, also they said my red
hair make them would like to call me that.
I am a transfer student, and I was a basketball
player in my university in China about 5 years ago. After I hurt my knee, I
quit my career. Although I cannot play basketball as well as before, playing
and watching basketball are still my favorite things to do. I like watching
America basketball games like NBA or NCAA, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan are
my favorite players.
As for my free time, I usually stay at home and
player video games with my friends, or go to the gym for working out. That
makes me feel like my free time always gone so soon.
The United States is the only one country that
I have traveled except my home country. I like U.S. very much especially
Macomb, because I like the quiet place but I don’t like the big city like
Beijing in China. The big cities in China are very crowded and noisy., they
make me feel much uncomfortable. Also the environment here in America is much
better than in China because China has too much factories, I can find lots of stuffs are made in China here in the US. All in all, I feel
very good in America so far.
My goal in the WIU is to graduate from here,
get a good GPA. As for my long-term goals, I’ll back to China and try to find a
good job. I don’t have some good dreams like to be the great people or do some
great things, my dream in the future is just try to be rich and help the poor
people out of trouble. That’s why I choose the finance to be my major, I think
learning Finance is a good way to know how to manage money. That will be the
precondition of how to be a rich man I guess.
Your goals seem straightforward enough to me! I probably butcher (badly mispronounce) your name, yes? Do you prefer to be called Red? I love basketball too, although I graduated from the University of Illinois, so I prefer NCAA! I am sorry about your knee, knee injuries are awful. I played collegiate soccer and my knees have suffered too.
